Accelerating Leaders for Bell Group

Accelerating Leaders Programme

We are delighted to be working in partnership with Bell Group to design and deliver their Strategic Management Programme – ‘Accelerating Leaders’ to 20 of their Regional Managers across the UK.

In 2021 Julie Lawrenson, Head of Apprenticeships at Bell Group, approached us to develop an in-house leadership development programme for their Regional Managers. The programme also had to link to Modern Apprenticeship standards – and the SVQ in Construction Senior Management (SVQ Level 5, SCQF Level 11).

Pilot Programme

The Pilot programme commenced at the end of March at the Bell Group’s Northwest office in Warrington. The first workshop was ‘The Challenge’ which provided an Introduction to how the Programme would be delivered.

the Programme includes a series of workshops over a six-month period covering topics such as managing projects, leadership, providing ethical advice, recruitment, quality assurance, procurement, sustainability.  Each workshop is followed by a 1:1 coaching session and a site visit is arranged so that each manager can be observed in the workplace. As part of the Programme each manager will be responsible for implementing an innovative project in their workplace. They will also have the opportunity to practice their presentation skills on a range of topics, during their Action Learning Sets.

The first workshop was attended by 10 enthusiastic managers who arrived determined to learn, not only from the theory presented by Esteem Training’s facilitator Trudy MacKenzie, but from each other. The discussion was extremely interactive with a great deal of banter for good measure!

Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB)

All candidates on the programme will not only develop themselves as leaders, they will achieve the SCQF Level 11 in Construction Senior Management, which is the highest level of SVQ in Construction – the equivalent of a Masters Degree. Achieving the SVQ Level 5 qualification will enable each manager to apply to become a member of the CIOB (MCIOB).
