Esteem’s Site of the Month with an Unexpected Visitor
Our site of the month for October was from SVQ Level 3 Construction Site Supervisor candidate Kevin at a site near Guardbridge, St.Andrews, due to an extra special site visitor… Ollie the Otter.
Allan, one of our brilliant assessors, went to St Andrews to visit one of our candidates Kevin for a site visit. Kevin is a Site Supervisor and is completing his SVQ Level 3 Construction Site Supervisor programme here at Esteem. He is supervising a major works project consisting of bridge repairs on a heavily used bridge on the main A91 route to St. Andrews. However, the team have to work around Ollie, an Otter who has set up base right next to the site – not something you come across every day!
We absolutely love hearing all of Kevin’s Ollie the Otter stories at the workshops and we’re sure it made for an exciting site visit and lots of interesting evidence for Allan.
During Allan’s site visit, he observed a visit from the environmental agency. It was interesting to learn how they protect and observe the otter. Kevin informed us that the otter footprints are measured and photographed daily, and they leave food for Ollie too.
Here are some pictures from the site visit:
Kevin has been a great candidate for the SVQ level 3 Construction Site Supervisor programme, and it is extremely interesting learning how he uses his new skills to adapt to new situations and scenarios.
Our SVQ Level 3: Construction Site Supervision programme is funded by Skills Development Scotland under the Modern Apprenticeship scheme in Scotland. It is a brilliant qualification for Site Supervisors and team leaders who are stepping into a supervisory role. It covers key processes and procedures which can help improve project, and people management skills amongst other things.
We can’t wait to hear what Kevin and Ollie the Otter get up to as Kevin continues through our programme.
