A great end to our 5th, SVQ3 Occupational Work Supervision programme

A big congratulations to our candidates who have completed our fifth, Occupational Work Supervision programme. An excellent achievement.

OWS P5

Last Tuesday marked the final workshop for our fifth, SVQ3 Occupational Work Supervision programme. As always, it has been fantastic to get to know the candidates over the past few months. They have all shown great enthusiasm to learn new skills and to enhance their knowledge. With the candidates coming from various companies including,  JGM, John Mcleod, WB Joinery, Forkers Ltd and Morris and Spottiswood, the workshop discussions have been very interesting. This is because each candidate tended to approach a situation in a different manner or had different processes for managing work and their team. We always find that these types of workshops are a great opportunity for candidates to learn from one and other.

I found that this course has given me more confidence with my supervisor duties. The training workshops were well presented. I would definitely recommend this course to other people.

William Mahoney, JGM, Electrical Supervisor

The final workshop explored the responsibility Site Supervisors have in creating, and maintaining, a workplace that is safe and meets all legal requirements. This involves in-depth discussions of robust systems and disciplines which could help ensure legal requirements are met. Along with how to create a culture of health, safety and welfare. It is always a very informative workshop and we find that the candidates gain valuable skills on how to manage this effectively.

Allan, one of our assessors, gave a presentation to summarise the importance of health and safety and wearing PPI. When Allan was working on-site an accident occurred which resulted in Allan losing sight in one of his eyes. We always find that by Allan giving a real life example our candidates truly become aware of the importance of following legal requirements and promoting a safety culture.

Finally, congratulations to our candidates who have completed their SVQ3 construction qualification and are now eligible for their CSCS Gold Card. A great achievement! We hope that what you have learnt skills which will help you flourish within your role as Site Supervisor.
