SVQ in Occupational Work Supervision (SCQF 6)

The Modern Apprenticeship in Occupational Work Supervision (OWS), consists of 4 component parts and includes the Occupational Work Supervision SVQ, Industry Training, Core skills and Meta Skills. This programme is funded via Skills Development Scotland and aimed at working construction supervisors of single trades, who reside in Scotland, are currently in employment, and looking to gain a recognised qualification.

This developmental programme consists of;

  • Toolkit workbook which covers 50%+ of the qualification  
  • E-Portfolio with resources and templates   
  • 3 x 4.5 hour face to face workshops 
  • Onsite visit  
  • 1:1 sessions with an Assessor 

No prior qualifications are required to undertake OWS. However, if a candidate has SSSTS, this is the logical next step.

We also offer the Occupational Work Supervision programme outside of Scotland.

Is the programme full-time or part-time?

It’s work-based and part-time, allowing you to complete assessments while continuing in your job.

No formal written exams – assessment is competence-based, using evidence from your workplace (via a site visit), completion of Toolkit Tasks and discussions with your assessor.

In Scotland, this programme is funded through the Skills Development Scotland Modern Apprenticeship scheme. If you’re outside Scotland, we can still help explore funding options.

Upon completion, CITB registered companies may be eligible for Achievement grants, subject to eligibility.
